Germaine Lawrence is New Englands leading provider
of residential treatment services for at-risk adolescent girls.
We offer 105 beds in seven treatment centers, serving over
250 girls annually. Our average length of stay is one year
in our long term programs and up to three months in our short
term programs. Each year, approximately 80% of our girls successfully
complete their treatment goals and return to their family
or community.
We offer:
- Innovative clinical services using cognitive behavioral
methods.
- Individual and family therapy and a wide variety of specialized
group therapies.
- Year round education programs aligned with the Massachusetts
curriculum frameworks, with class sizes of no more than
ten students.
- In-home and onsite family coaching, as well as other family
supports.
- Board-certified child psychiatrists, on-site nursing staff,
and medical services backed up by Boston Children’s Hospital.
- Comprehensive activity programming both on and off campus,
including sports, arts, music and drama.
- Custom designed treatment centers equipped with single
and double bedrooms, kitchen and dining facilities, lounges,
classrooms, staff offices, and recreation space.

Sexual Aggression

Our Jane Addams treatment program is designed to serve girls
who have histories
of sexual aggression and firesetting. The program integrates
individual, group, and family therapies using a relational
approach. The treatment is based on the development of emotion
regulation skills, understanding of healthy relationships
and boundaries, and the development of a positive identity.
Addams is housed in a state-of-the-art facility, which was
constructed in 1994 and won a national award for outstanding
design and functionality in a health care facility. The specialization
for fire setters received The Massachusetts Coalition of Juvenile
Firesetter Intervention Programs annual Clinical Community
Service Award in 2004.

Cynthia Browning Treatment Center provides Department of Social
Services contracted STARR (Short-term Assessment and Rapid
Reunification) services and short-term CBAT (Community-Based
Acute Treatment) services for girls requiring acute care.
The program provides comprehensive assessment services and
clear recommendations for future service plans. We offer a
fexible array of services to meet the child and familiy's
needs.

Eating

The Hirshberg Treatment Center is an 18-bed program that exlusively
serves girls with life-threatening cases of anorexia and bulimia.
We provide extensive medical care on campus and on-call physicians
at Boston children's Hospital are available for consultation.
Our program is based on the belief that families are essential
to their daughter's recovery and we require families to take
an active role in the treatment process.

The group home offers therapeutice services in a warm, nurturing

girls exhibiting a wide range of high-risk behaviors, including
suicide attempts, self-injury, running away, aggression and

treatment center opened summer of 2008.
